3 Ways to Get Holiday-Ready Skin

For many of us, this time of year means schedules packed with holiday gatherings with family, friends, and co-workers.

Before you get too busy, treat your skin to some rejuvenating care. Looking and feeling your best can help you fully enjoy everything the holiday season has to offer.

Whatever your unique skin concerns, our team, led by Maria Cole, APRN, FNP-C, at Enrich Health and Wellness in Boerne, Texas, has a treatment that can refresh your complexion in time for the peak of the holiday season.

In this month’s blog, we look at three methods to achieve youthful-looking, glowing skin.

1. Microneedling

Sun damage, acne scars, and general aging can leave your skin looking textured and uneven. Microneedling is a great option for smoothing your complexion and restoring a youthful glow.

Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy. Collagen is a protein in your skin that gives it shape, structure, and elasticity. Aging, chronic acne, and excess sun exposure can damage your skin’s collagen stores.

During microneedling, we use a hand-held rolling device with a large number of microscopic needles to prick the skin, inducing tiny injuries. Your body responds to this “damage” by ramping up collagen production. The result is a new layer of beautiful, smooth skin.

2. Cosmetic injections

If fine lines and wrinkles cause you to feel self-conscious about your appearance, cosmetic injections can erase these pesky signs of aging.

At Enrich Health and Wellness, we offer Botox® and dermal fillers. These injections both address fine lines and wrinkles, using different ingredients for different types of wrinkles.

Botox is a neuromodulator that temporarily blocks nerve signals that tell the muscles in your face to contract. When your facial muscles no longer contract in response to your facial expressions, your complexion softens. Botox is best for crow’s feet and forehead lines.

Dermal fillers contain volumizing substances, such as hyaluronic acid, to restore volume and fullness to areas that have become thin or shallow due to aging. Dermal fillers work well for thin lips, cheekbones, and the folds around your nose and mouth.

You can also combine these injections for a liquid face-lift.

3. Laser therapy

Laser therapy can address a wide range of skin concerns, including wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone and texture. Traditionally, this cosmetic treatment uses heat to penetrate the outer layers of skin and destroy damaged skin cells.

However, at Enrich Health and Wellness, we use Icon™ laser technology, a type of intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy. Instead of lasers, the Icon system targets your problem areas with heat from light, which is less damaging to surrounding areas of skin.

Your skin absorbs the pigment from the light, effectively destroying the targeted skin cells. Your body flushes out the damaged skin cells and ramps up collagen production to replace the old skin with a fresh new layer.
