Get Ready for Valentine’s Day with a PDO Thread Lift

Whether your Valentine’s Day plans include a romantic dinner with your significant other or a night out with your friends, you likely want to look your best.

If sagging or wrinkled skin keeps you from feeling confident about your appearance, you might wonder what you can do to address it before the big day.

Your skin contains a vital protein called collagen, which gives your skin its structure and elasticity. However, aging, sun exposure, and repeated facial movements deplete your skin’s collagen stores over time. Without enough collagen, your skin becomes loose and saggy.

Face-lift surgery can address significant skin sagging, but not everyone is willing or able to invest time and finances into major cosmetic surgery.

At Enrich Health and Wellness in Boerne, Texas, Maria Cole, APRN, FNP-C, and our team offer a treatment that can provide face-lift results more quickly and without significant downtime. It’s called a polydioxanone (PDO) thread lift

In this month’s blog, we discuss how this innovative treatment can help you feel confident for your Valentine’s Day and beyond.

What’s a PDO thread lift?

A thread lift is a cosmetic procedure that uses dissolvable stitches to lift sagging skin. It provides similar results to a face-lift, but we suspend loose skin instead of removing it.

A thread lift not only gives you a more youthful and lifted look, but the “injury” inflicted by the stitches also triggers a healing response from your body. Through this healing response, your body produces more collagen to tighten and smooth your skin.

PDO thread lifts get their name from the thread used in the stitches. There are several thread techniques, and the kind we pick for your procedure depends on your concerns and goals.

What happens during a PDO thread lift?

Before a PDO thread lift, you sit down with our team for a consultation to discuss your goals, ensuring that this procedure is a good fit for you. PDO thread lifts can address areas that tend to age quickly, such as the cheeks, jaw, neck, and eyes.

A few days before your procedure, avoid using tobacco products, drinking alcohol, and taking aspirin, all of which can worsen swelling afterward.

When you come in for your procedure, we have you recline in a chair as our team administers a local anesthetic to keep you comfortable. We then use a thin needle to stitch up the areas that are loose and sagging.

Recovery from a PDO thread lift is minimal. You may notice some bruising and swelling around the stitched areas, but it should diminish after a few days.
